July summer clean
// added 2nd July 2008
It's been a few months since I've updated this blog or my website... and I'm pleased to say a lot's happened!
Very good news: I entered the Shell Wildlife Photographer of the Year and was a semi-finalist!!
Apart from that the main events are listed below, but in amongst them I have also been to Somerset Lavender to take photos of their lavender fields. Thankyou to Judith for allowing me to visit.
Here's a run down of events (click on the images to view the related photos):
In May I was determined to make the most of the spring and so I re-visited Kingston Lacy to take photos of the drove leading up to the house. The weather was perfect and gave me an opportunity to capture the fresh green of the trees. I intend to go back in November to get the opposite and hopefully some orange hues.
June soon came round and so it was time to re-visit Cumbria and Northumberland. I got the chance to visit some places that I'd liked to have seen during my first holiday there. Top of my list was Lindisfarne and the castle which I really enjoyed, despite it taking 3 hours to get there!
More recently I wanted to explore the local heritage and try some more sunset photos. I picked an excellent evening and headed over to Bruton to visit the Dovecote that dominates the view of the town.
Bringing you up to date, I visited one of Somerset's most beautiful beaches at Kilve. I'm generally not a fan (read hater) of beaches and seaside places but this beach was something different. The limestone pavements of the beach make fascinating viewing and I found it easy to wander around for a while finding all sorts of interesting things.
Springs n things
// added 29th April 2008
Wow, Spring is really here now. It's been great watching everything come back to life! I have been hunting bluebells again this year, searching for that elusive carpet effect. I kinda found it in Wiltshire so I'll be adding the photos I've taken later this week. I wanted to quickly update my blog to let people know that I'll be at the Love Food Festival held at the Paintworks, Bristol on 11th May 2008. Thanks to Lorna for contacting me and adding me to the website!
Late Winter update
// added 24th February 2008
I've given the website a winter clean and added lots of new photos that I've taken since the start of 2008.
I got off to a flying start in January by visiting the drove leading up to Kingston Lacy House. It's an amazing stretch of road going on for about 2 miles. I intend to go back when the trees have leaves on them as I expect it's completely different again.

February saw me visiting Snowdrop Valley in Exmoor. I think I picked THE best weekend to visit as the weather was fantastic. I also got up early to catch some sunrises on the levels.
I'd like to quote a comment I received from someone called judo_dad1953 on flickr:
"I'm listening to Franz Schuberts Unfinihed Symphony No.8 in B minor; as I'm wandering through your photostream. Its a perfect combination; it draws me to the image, making me wish I could pass into it and experience the moment wholly. Still, doing so vicariously is no small thing. Its an enviable record of an enviable moment. A tip of the hat to you for posting such a beautiful photo!"
I love receiving comments on my work (good or bad) and his was especially nice because it painted a picture for me - so thanks.
In March I'll be selling prints and cards at the Health and Happiness Fair on 15th March in Glastonbury Town Hall. I'm also preparing for a new exhibition which I hope to be able to write about very soon.
Thanks for reading and see you next time..
Plans for 2008
// added 28th December 2007
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. Firstly, thanks to all who visited my stall at the Wells craft fair in December. I met a few of the stallholders and another local photographer as well as selling some prints and cards. I'll be updating the website soon with dates for shows in 2008 so check back soon!
Following on from my previous blog, I've now fixed the portfolio and added some of the last photos from the Lakes as well as the winter scenes I took in November. Look at Recent Additions to see them.
All that's left is to wish everyone a Happy New Year and a great start to 2008.
New blog!
// added 19th November 2007
Hi and welcome to my new blog! I thought it'd be a good idea to add a blog to the site to keep you up to date with what's new and also inform you of what I'm going to be doing in the future.

I've been wanting to get some wintery sunrise photos for quite a while so I set them as a must do for 2007. Last week had some really cold mornings and I decided that they were a good time to make a start. I made it up Wearyall Hill in Glastonbury by about 7:00am to see what looked like the horizon of the sea.
The photo above has been one of the most popular of the set on flickr; it's the avenue of poplars outside of Street in Somerset. At the same time as taking this shot I also got some great shots of the Tor surrounded by mist. To anyone who hasn't ventured up Wearyall Hill at sunrise: do it. The views were out of this world and I was on a high all day. I was also treated to a massive flock of starlings flying overhead towards the sun at 7:15.
Unfortunately I'm having problems with Photoshop at the moment as I've accidentally deleted the action I created to make thumbnails for this website - doh! For anyone that doesn't understand what implication that has: it'll delay me from updating photos on here until I fix it, which will hopefully be very soon.
Until then you can enjoy the sunrise photos on my flickr stream.
